We believe that parks are essential to the quality of life in the Pacific Northwest and that community involvement is essential to the life of the Fort Worden State Park. Parks that thrive, rather than simply survive, are those that have active communities caring and fighting for them.
Volunteers play a vital role in sustaining the treasures that are the Washington State Parks, providing more than 200,000 hours of service each year (the equivalent of 100 full-time employees). Helping hands are needed everywhere for a wide variety of short and long term projects, providing interesting and rewarding volunteer opportunities for individuals, couples, schools, families, corporations, citizen groups and service organizations
The Friends of Fort Worden seek volunteers for trail stewardship to help maintain, and promote safe and wise use of trails and beaches. The "Trail Team" helps steward the trails and beaches of Fort Worden by helping the Park Rangers communicate positive information with visitors, reporting problems and creating work parties to repair trails or remove invasive vegetation.
